Gedong District Receives 101 Water Tanks for Rural Supply

GEDONG – In a move to bolster access to clean water, 101 water storage tanks have been distributed to residents in rural areas surrounding the Gedong district.

The initiative, led by the Gedong District Office, is part of the broader state government effort to improve basic water supply infrastructure in remote communities.

The handover ceremony was overseen by Gedong District Officer Tamida Da’adi and witnessed by Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, the special representative of the Gedong State Assemblyman.

The tanks were allocated to several villages based on their specific needs, with Kampung Keniong Munggu Jernih receiving the largest allocation of 33 units.

Other beneficiary villages include Kampung Keniong Lama (22 units), Kampung Blau Baru (18 units), Kampung Sengkalan (18 units), and Kampung Sungai Alit (10 units).

This project is designed to assist residents in storing water for daily consumption, addressing challenges related to inconsistent water access in some rural regions.

The provision of these tanks is a component of the Sarawak government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing living standards and ensuring equitable access to essential services across the state, particularly in areas where piped water infrastructure is not yet fully developed.
