According to a spokesman from the Sarawak Fire Operations Centre, the emergency call was received at 9.08pm, prompting the mobilisation of fire crews from the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) to the scene.

“The fire involved a house measuring about 20 by 60 square feet which was fully destroyed. Thankfully, no casualties were reported in the incident,” the spokesman said in a statement.

The firefighting operation was led by PBK II (TBK I) Awang Ismail Awang Masri with 16 personnel deployed. Firefighters used two hose reel jets connected to nearby fire hydrants to bring the blaze under control.

Additional support came from the Batu Lintang Fire and Rescue Station, which provided shuttle pumps to ensure a steady water supply for the Petra Jaya fire trucks.

The sole occupant of the house, identified as Azhar Jenal, 60, managed to escape without injuries.

The operation was declared fully completed at 10.38pm. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire as well as the estimated losses. Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) was also present to assist in handling electrical safety at the site.
