Four Injured in Head-On Collision on Jalan Song

SONG – Four people were injured in a head-on collision involving a car along Jalan Song this afternoon. The accident, which occurred at around 1.12pm, left one woman seriously injured.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre (PGO), the victims, aged between 15 and 44, were rescued by members of the public before emergency personnel arrived at the scene.

A team from the Song Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Song) was immediately dispatched after receiving the distress call. Upon arrival, they discovered that all the victims had already been pulled out of the vehicle by passersby.

“The fire brigade provided initial medical treatment and assisted in carrying one victim, who had fallen into a roadside drain, to a safe area using a stretcher,” PGO said in a statement today.

Two of the injured victims were later rushed to the Song Health Clinic by their family members, while the remaining two were handed over to Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel for further medical attention.

Authorities did not provide details on how the accident occurred but confirmed that no fatalities were reported. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the collision.

The incident once again highlights the importance of road safety and the dangers of careless driving on narrow roads such as Jalan Song. With the growing number of vehicles passing through the area daily, local residents are urging drivers to be more cautious, especially during peak hours.

Emergency responders praised the quick action of the public in helping the victims before professional help arrived, noting that such community effort often makes a difference in reducing casualties in rural road accidents.
