SARIKEL – A digital literacy initiative designed to equip students with essential technological competencies was launched this week at SK Sungai Selidap.
The “Jom Klik: School Digitalisation Programme” aims to align student learning with the demands of 21st-century education, which increasingly prioritizes proficiency in information technology.
In his address during the launch, Ir Yusuf Abd Wahab, Member of Parliament for Tanjong Manis and Chairman of the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia, emphasized the programme’s relevance in fostering critical future-ready skills.
He noted that digital capabilities are now integral to all aspects of modern life, including education, employment, and daily activities.
While highlighting the benefits of digital access, Yusuf also cautioned attendees about potential risks associated with technology, such as misinformation, online gambling, and cybercrime.
He underscored the vital responsibility of parents and educators in guiding young users toward ethical and safe digital practices.
The event was attended by the school’s headmaster, Semanto Ahi, along with senior assistants and community representatives.
Similar digital literacy programs have been introduced in other regions as part of a broader national effort to enhance technological fluency among Malaysian youth.
