BELADIN – The Sarawak Sago and Nipah Development Board (SNDB) 2025 Outreach Programme has been highlighted as a critical initiative for delivering development opportunities directly to rural communities, particularly those in the Beting Maro region reliant on sago and nipah-based industries.
Beting Maro State Assemblyman Razaili Gapor emphasized that the program bridges information gaps and enables residents to actively engage with government-led development efforts.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the outreach event on Thursday, Razaili noted that such initiatives transcend mere exhibitions, serving instead as vital channels for communicating policies and introducing technological advancements to grassroots stakeholders.
The program, themed “Best Practices, Innovation and Competitiveness Towards Community Empowerment,” brought together multiple government and corporate agencies to offer economic opportunities, training, and technical support to local farmers and smallholders.
Razaili underscored Beting Maro’s significant potential for growth through local resource-based industries, affirming that SNDB’s establishment reflects the state government’s commitment to structured, high-impact sector development.
He urged sago and nipah smallholders to register with SNDB to access incentives, productivity assistance, and downstream diversification support aimed at enhancing market competitiveness.
The event was attended by Batang Lupar Member of Parliament Mohamad Shafizan Kepli, SNDB General Manager Zaidil Hussaini, Pusa District Officer Jamain Wahab, and Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA) Special Administrative Officer Abang Mohamed Abang Turkey.
