Man’s Body Found at Pantai Bakam Entrance, Police Investigating as Sudden Death

MIRI – A man’s body was discovered near the entrance of Bakam Village at Pantai Bakam yesterday, shocking local residents who came across the lifeless individual aged between 30 and 40 years old.

Miri District Police Chief, ACP Mohd Farhan Lee bin Abdullah, confirmed that a police report on the discovery was lodged at Tanjung Lobang Police Station. The incident was officially classified as a case of sudden death pending further investigation.

According to ACP Mohd Farhan, initial findings showed that the victim was already deceased when discovered, and the confirmation was made by an assistant medical officer at the scene. The body, which remains unidentified, has since been transported to the Forensic Department of Miri Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

He further explained that investigators are working to establish the victim’s identity. “We urge members of the public who may have missing family members, or anyone who recognizes the tattoo as shown in the attachment, to immediately contact Tanjung Lobang Police Station Chief, Sergeant Malina anak Kilat, at 011-12017034 or call the station directly at 085-437290. They may also report to the nearest police station,” he said.

ACP Mohd Farhan also advised the public not to spread unverified information or speculate about the case to avoid causing unnecessary distress to the family and hindering the ongoing investigation.

The police are actively seeking information and cooperation from the public to help identify the deceased and bring closure to the family concerned.
