Kuching – Sarawak Police Commissioner, CP Dato Mancha Ata, today made a courtesy visit to Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg at the Satria Pertiwi Complex in Kuching. The visit marks his final official engagement before his mandatory retirement at the end of this month.
Dato Mancha will formally hand over his duties to his successor, Datuk Haji Mohamad Zainal Haji Abdullah, on 26 September. The occasion was a brief but significant meeting, reflecting the Commissioner’s decades of dedicated service to the state and the nation.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, sources said the discussion touched on the continued collaboration between the Sarawak Police and state government in maintaining public safety and order across Sarawak. It was also a moment to reflect on the achievements of the police force under Dato Mancha’s leadership, particularly in strengthening community policing and improving crime prevention strategies in urban and rural areas.
Earlier in the day, Dato Mancha had paid a courtesy visit to Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, at Wisma Bapa Malaysia in Petrajaya. The meetings symbolize a tradition of respect and cooperation between the state government and the police leadership.
Colleagues and officials who attended described the farewell meetings as warm and cordial, highlighting Dato Mancha’s commitment to duty and his professional rapport with government leaders. The handover next week is expected to be marked by a formal ceremony acknowledging his contributions and welcoming Datuk Haji Mohamad Zainal Haji Abdullah as the new Sarawak Police Commissioner.
Dato Mancha’s tenure has been widely recognized for proactive policing initiatives, enhanced community engagement, and efforts to modernize the police force in line with evolving security challenges. His retirement closes a significant chapter in Sarawak’s law enforcement history.
