Free Vegetarian Meals to Padungan Community

Free Vegetarian Meals to Padungan Community

KUCHING – In a heartwarming effort to connect with the community, MBKS Councilor Eric Tay Tze Kok, together with Team Dynamic Kuching and Team Share Love Together, distributed free vegetarian meals at Padungan this morning.

The initiative was held in conjunction with the first day of the eighth lunar month, a significant date in the Chinese lunar calendar, and aimed at reaching out to residents, particularly the elderly and those living with disabilities.

Councilor Eric Tay expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in making the event a success. “A small gesture like this helps us strengthen our bond with the community. I sincerely thank all volunteers, including team members who personally delivered lunch to several families at KMC Flats,” he said.

The collaboration also included KMKK (Kuching Municipal Community Council) and JKKK (Village Community Development and Security Committee), who assisted in organizing the distribution. Volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure that meals reached both public spaces in Padungan and private homes in need.

Residents who received the meals appreciated the councilor’s effort to bring warmth and care during the lunar festival period. Many families commended the initiative, highlighting its significance for those who may not have the means or ability to prepare meals themselves.

“This is more than just a meal distribution,” said one local resident. “It shows that our community leaders and volunteers care for us, especially the elderly and disabled.”

Events like these reinforce the importance of community solidarity and the spirit of giving during festive occasions. By reaching out to residents directly, Councilor Eric Tay and the volunteer teams hope to inspire others to take small actions that can make a meaningful difference in society.
