Bukit Goram Communities Benefit from RM253,000 Rural Project Funds

KAPIT – Communities in Bukit Goram received a boost with the distribution of RM253,000 under the Minor Rural Project (MRP), benefitting 25 recipients including Parents-Teachers Associations (PIBG), sports clubs, village development and safety committees (JKKK) and local associations.

The presentation, held at Hotel Meligai Kapit on Tuesday, was officiated by Bukit Goram Assemblyman Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat, who also serves as Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law and Native Customs).

In his remarks, Datuk Jefferson stressed that the allocation was more than just financial assistance, describing it as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to community needs.

“This allocation is a trust that must be used to empower communities, improve infrastructure and support activities with direct impact on the people’s well-being. I urge all recipients to manage the funds with responsibility, transparency and effectiveness,” he said.

He called on PIBGs to enhance student facilities and programmes, urged sports clubs to encourage healthy lifestyles and unity among youth, and reminded JKKKs to strengthen amenities and governance in longhouse communities. Local associations, he added, should treat the support as a catalyst for impactful, inclusive initiatives.

Datuk Jefferson also underscored the need to align grassroots projects with the state’s Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and the Digital MADANI agenda, expressing hope that Bukit Goram could serve as a model for sustainable development through community-government partnerships.

The event, organised by the Bukit Goram Service Centre, concluded with a symbolic cheque presentation.

Also in attendance were Political Secretary to the Premier, Watson Awan, Kapit Resident Elvis Didit, Pemancha Pasanag Tuba, Pemancha Abang Hamzah Abang Bolhassan and Councillor Martin Bilun.
