Sarawak Marches Into BGK 2025 Lawn Bowls Mixed Doubles Final

Sarawak Marches Into BGK 2025 Lawn Bowls Mixed Doubles Final

KUCHING: The Petra Jaya Sports Complex turned into a stage of high drama and cheers on Friday morning as Sarawak secured a place in the final of the Borneo Games Kuching (BGK) 2025 lawn bowls mixed doubles event.

The day started as early as 8am, with Sarawak’s strong duo, Nur Fithri Armisya Abdul Rahman Abdullah and Mohammad Aryan Nazrullah Nazaruddin, displaying discipline and consistency that gave little chance for their opponents to recover.

They overpowered Sabah’s pairing of Nur Azami Azlie and Nurafeqah Qhalisah Alham, sealing a convincing 20-9 victory. Their precision and teamwork left the spectators impressed, showing why Sarawak is one of the top contenders in the competition.

The real test, however, came in the second session at 10.15am against Labuan’s determined pair, Faris Syuhairil Ahmad Syukri and Nur Farah Faizah Roziman. It was a nail-biting match where every point drew loud cheers from the crowd. Both sides battled fiercely until the final moments, with Sarawak clinching a 14-13 win that sent the home supporters into loud celebrations.

These back-to-back victories not only cement Sarawak’s place in the BGK 2025 mixed doubles final, but also fuel the contingent’s morale in their pursuit of overall glory at the Games.

All attention now shifts to the grand final at 4pm today, where Sarawak will have the chance to make history on home ground. Supporters are eagerly waiting to see if the lawn bowls team can deliver a golden moment for the state. – UKAS
