Pulau Salak Berselawat Parade Lights Up Maulidur Rasul Celebration

KUCHING – The 10th Series of the Pulau Salak Berselawat Program, organized by KJM Salak DBKU, was successfully held with great blessings and an overwhelming response from the local residents.

The annual event, held in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration, aims to strengthen the love of Muslims towards the Prophet Muhammad SAW and encourage unity among the community.

This year’s program stood out with its unique addition – a grand parade of more than 20 beautifully decorated boats sailing along the Salak River. Each boat was accompanied by continuous selawat recitations, creating a spiritual yet festive atmosphere that brought joy to the villagers and visitors alike.

The event was further graced by the presence of YB Datuk Sri Hajah Nancy binti Haji Shukri, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development and Member of Parliament for P193 Santubong, as well as Yang Berbahagia Dato Haji Hilmy bin Haji Othman, Mayor of Kuching North. Their participation highlighted the importance of preserving religious traditions while celebrating them in a meaningful way.

Local residents expressed their gratitude for the initiative, noting that the Berselawat program has become more than just an annual religious gathering. For them, it is also a cultural identity that keeps the younger generation connected to the teachings of Islam while maintaining harmony in the community.

Over the past decade, the Salak Island Berselawat has grown into one of the most anticipated events in the area, combining faith, unity, and cultural pride. With the decorated boats’ parade adding a vibrant touch this year, the program has set a new benchmark for future celebrations.

The committee expressed hopes that the event will continue to inspire and spread the message of love, peace, and respect in line with the values of Maulidur Rasul. – DBKU
