Miri Man Dies After Falling From Ladder in Tragic Incident

MIRI – A 51-year-old man died after falling from a ladder in an incident that occurred in Miri on Saturday.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the Foxtrot Squad was dispatched following a sick call (SKT) and arrived at the scene with four members, led by Lt. M (PA) Nur Izzati Husna binti Rozaidi.

Upon arrival, the squad found the victim unconscious and bleeding heavily from the head. Despite immediate checks and efforts to stabilise the situation, the man was confirmed dead at the location by medical personnel.

“The Emergency Medical Service (EMS) system was activated, and assistance from the hospital and police was requested. Unfortunately, the victim was confirmed dead at the scene,” Bomba said in a statement.

The victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action. After completing the operation, the Foxtrot Squad returned to PKOD Miri.

Police have classified the case as sudden death pending a post-mortem examination.

The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the risks involved in household and workplace accidents, especially when safety precautions are not fully observed. Authorities continue to urge the public to practise caution when using ladders or performing tasks at elevated heights to prevent such fatalities.

This case adds to the number of recent reports involving accidents at home, highlighting the need for greater public awareness about safety practices. – APM Miri
