The incident occurred at around 10.06am when a trailer is believed to have skidded before ramming into several vehicles. The crash involved two lorries – an Isuzu and a Hicom – along with a Honda HR-V, two Perodua Axia, and a Perodua Viva.

Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Operations Commander, Fire Officer Hafizul Adzrin, said a total of 14 personnel were deployed to the scene with two Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicles and three Rapid Intervention Motorcycle (RIM) units.

“Upon arrival, our team found a victim pinned under a Perodua Viva. A crane was used to lift the trailer while firefighters applied special rescue equipment to free the victim,” he said in a statement.

Unfortunately, the victim was confirmed dead at the scene by a medical team from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM). The body was later handed over to the police for further action.

Hafizul added that seven people were injured in the crash. They included three men from the Isuzu lorry, one man from the Hicom lorry, and four occupants of the Honda HR-V comprising one man and two women.

Meanwhile, four others escaped unharmed. They were identified as the trailer driver, one male passenger of the Honda HR-V, and two women driving the Perodua Axia vehicles.

Batu Pahat District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani, confirmed the case, stating that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.

Earlier, a 43-second rear camera video went viral on social media, showing the trailer veering out of control and crashing into several vehicles near the mosque.

This latest tragedy highlights once again the risks posed by heavy vehicles on busy federal roads, raising concerns over safety and maintenance standards.
