Kuching Celebrates 11-Day Mid-Autumn Festival

Kuching Celebrates 11-Day Mid-Autumn Festival

KUCHING – The Malaysia-China Friendship Park here will host the 2025 Mooncake Festival from October 2 to 12, offering nightly celebrations from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor, Dato Wee Hong Seng, described the festival as a deeply meaningful celebration that strengthens community bonds.

He emphasised the importance of passing traditions to younger generations, ensuring they understand the festival’s significance extends beyond lanterns and mooncakes.

The event, a collaboration between MBKS and Isekai, promises a vibrant programme. Highlights include performances by the Harmonix Liveband, DJ sessions, and busking by local artists.

A special Chinese instrumental performance by Y.Q Music Studio is scheduled for October 6, the official Mid-Autumn Festival day.

Families can enjoy a lively food bazaar, photo opportunities, and games. In a gesture to share the festive spirit, children will receive complimentary lanterns and mooncakes.

Concurrently, the city’s iconic Carpenter Street is hosting the 22nd Kuching Intercultural Mooncake Festival from September 26 to October 6.

This separate event features over 150 stalls offering diverse food options, including Muslim-friendly choices, vintage goods, and live cultural performances, further enriching the city’s autumn festivities.
