IDECS 2025 to Spotlight AI and Green Evolution for a Resilient Future

KUCHING – The Sarawak International Digital Economy Conference (IDECS 2025) will return on 22 and 23 October, carrying the theme “AI & Green Evolution: Growth, Challenges and Community Resilience.”

The annual event aims to explore how artificial intelligence and sustainable innovation can shape a resilient digital future for Sarawak and beyond.

Now in its eighth edition, the conference continues to strengthen Sarawak’s ambition to become a leading digital economy in Southeast Asia.

Speaking after a courtesy visit to the Sarawak Premier at the Satria Pertiwi Complex, Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, said this year’s conference will introduce new elements and a lineup of globally recognised speakers.

He revealed that four keynote experts will lead the discussions, James Barrat, author of Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era; Dr Ayesha Khanna, CEO of ADDO and a leading AI strategist; Dr Justin Cohen, a specialist in human transformation through AI; and Scott Bales, an international futurist known for his expertise in innovation strategy and leadership.

The event will be officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg on the opening day at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

According to Dato Sri Julaihi, the two-day conference is expected to attract around 10,000 participants, including local and international delegates, industry leaders, policymakers, and youth.

He encouraged school students to attend and engage with the exhibitions and sessions designed to inspire interest in AI, green technology, and digital innovation.

The press conference was also attended by State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) General Manager Dato Dr Anderson Tiong Ing Heng, and SDEC CEO Dato Ir Ts Sudarnoto Osman, alongside other dignitaries.

IDECS has become a premier platform for exchanging knowledge and fostering collaboration among technology experts, business leaders, and government agencies. This year’s focus on AI and green transformation underscores Sarawak’s vision for inclusive, sustainable, and innovation-driven growth.
