Kuching Toddler Murdered: Police Hunt Mother’s Male Friend After Tragic Death

KUCHING: A three-year-old girl has died after she was allegedly beaten by her mother’s male friend in a heartbreaking case that has shocked the local community.

The child was found unconscious at a house in Kampung Rampangi last night and was rushed to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) by ambulance. Despite efforts by medical personnel to revive her, she was pronounced dead upon arrival at around 10.00 pm.

Medical staff reportedly noticed multiple suspicious injuries on the girl’s body, including bruises and a swelling on her head, prompting them to immediately alert the police.

Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Chief, SAC Lim Sam Aik, confirmed the case when contacted, adding that further details will be provided by the Kuching District Police Chief.

Kuching District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, when contacted by Utusan Sarawak, said investigations are ongoing and it is still too early to reveal additional information.

It is understood that both the Kuching District Police and the Sarawak CID have launched a joint investigation and are now pursuing the male suspect believed to be responsible for the child’s death.

Sources said an ambulance from SGH was dispatched to Kampung Rampangi at around 9.00 pm after receiving a call about an unconscious child. Medical officers performed CPR before transporting her to the hospital’s Red Zone, where she was later declared dead.

The suspect, said to be the mother’s male friend, reportedly fled the scene after learning of the girl’s death. The mother, whose face was swollen and showed signs of injury, is believed to be receiving medical treatment.

The girl’s father, who was informed of the incident, rushed to the hospital and later lodged a police report in the early hours, demanding a full investigation into his daughter’s death.

A post-mortem is expected to be conducted today to determine the exact cause of death. Police have classified the case as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
