Sarawak Head of State Performs Friday Prayers at State Mosque, Emphasises Unity and Harmony

KUCHING – His Excellency the Head of State of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, performed the Friday obligatory prayers at the Sarawak State Mosque this afternoon, marking a meaningful gathering of faith and unity among Sarawakians.

Upon arrival, Tun Pehin Sri was warmly received by Datuk Haji Abang Abdul Wahap bin Haji Abang Julai, Chief Executive Officer of the Sarawak Islamic Council (LAKMNS), along with Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah and LAKMNS officers on duty.

The Friday prayers were led by Sahibul Fadhilah Dato Haji Mustapha Kamal bin Ahmad Fauzi, the Grand Imam of Sarawak, who also delivered a sermon titled “His Excellency the Head of State of Sarawak: The Core of Community Harmony.” The muezzin on duty was Ustaz Haji Hasbullah Bin Haji Bachok.

The ceremony was graced by several prominent state leaders, including YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Premier of Sarawak; YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of MYSED and MTCP; YB Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman); and YB Encik Azizul Annuar Bin Haji Adenan, Assemblyman for Tanjong Datu.

Also in attendance were heads of government departments and local congregants from the Petra Jaya Jamek Mosque community.

After prayers, Tun Pehin Sri took time to greet worshippers, pose for group photos with the Premier, senior police officers, and attendees, reflecting a gesture of warmth and humility. He later presented donation envelopes to children present at the mosque before departing.

Tun Pehin Sri also expressed his heartfelt prayer for the people of Sarawak, hoping that they would continue to live peacefully and harmoniously, maintaining unity and strength for the prosperity and well-being of the state.

The occasion not only reflected religious devotion but also highlighted the spirit of togetherness and mutual respect that defines Sarawak’s multicultural society. – TYT Sarawak
