RM100,000 Allocated for Renovation of King’s Archery Facility in Miri

RM100,000 Allocated for Renovation of King’s Archery Facility in Miri

MIRI – King’s Archery in Miri is set to undergo significant upgrades after being awarded RM100,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) to revitalise its facilities.

The announcement came from Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Entertainment Arts (Tourism) and Member of the Legislative Assembly for Piasau, during the 25th anniversary celebration of King’s Archery at the archery grounds on Sunday.

Datuk Sebastian Ting encouraged the archers to maintain rigorous training regimes in every competition. He also reminded youths to show appreciation for their parents, whose support enables them to pursue archery.

He extended congratulations to the Miri Division archery team for their achievements in several tournaments: the Sarawak MSS Competition in Kuching (10-14 August 2025), MSSM 2025 in Terengganu (12-18 September 2025), and the Borneo Games in Kuching (24 September 2025). These successes reflect the growing strength of archery talent in the region.

Also present was Coach David Ting Tai Pang of King’s Archery Miri, who expressed gratitude to the state government for its backing in grassroots archery development.

The anniversary event also served as a reminder of King’s Archery’s long-standing commitment to fostering young archers in Miri.

Over 25 years, the club has become an important component of the state’s efforts to expand sporting opportunities.
