MIRI – Two crucial drainage projects in the Tudan area have been completed ahead of schedule, offering a solution to the recurrent flooding that has affected the local community. The works were implemented under the Senadin Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
Sarawak’s Minister of Transport and Senadin Assemblyman, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, confirmed the early completion during a site visit on Monday. He inspected both the Tudan Phase 8 and Tudan Desaras Phase 6 project locations.
The project in Tudan Phase 8, constructed with an allocation of RM300,000, involved building a 272-metre-long cement drain.
Dato Sri Lee stated that this infrastructure would facilitate smoother water flow and lower flood risks in an area that experienced flooding earlier this year.
A second project in Tudan Desaras 6B, costing RM235,680, involved the construction of a 143-metre-long drainage channel.
Both projects were finished months before their original February and December 2026 deadlines, respectively.
Dato Sri Lee commended the contractor for the efficient and specification-compliant work. He emphasised the government’s preference for such reliable partners, noting that contractors who deliver quality work ahead of schedule would be considered for future projects.
He further assured residents that the state government remains committed to enhancing the drainage network in Tudan.
Additional projects using RTP allocations are planned to ensure the area becomes permanently free from flood concerns.
