Family Values Underpin National Prosperity, Says LPPKN

Family Values Underpin National Prosperity, Says LPPKN

KUCHING – Robust family values have been identified as the fundamental building block for a harmonious society and a prosperous nation.

The significance of the family unit in determining a population’s emotional stability and overall well-being was underscored at a recent official event.

Dato’ Abdul Shukur Abdullah, the Director-General of the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), articulated this position while officiating the closure of the KASIH Keluarga Programme.

The event also served as the kick-off for the National Family Month 2025 celebration, held at Dataran Astaka Lagenda in Kampung Santubong.

He emphasised that dedicating quality time to family relationships is the cornerstone of emotional health and domestic harmony.

Citing research, he noted that families who engage in shared activities for as little as ten minutes to an hour daily experience reduced stress levels and report closer, more contented bonds.

The LPPKN Director-General further elaborated on the long-term benefits, stating that children who receive consistent parental attention and affection typically develop into more disciplined and self-assured adults who perform better academically.

He characterised time invested with family as the most valuable contribution towards nurturing a generation with strong moral character and resilience.

The KASIH Keluarga initiative is designed as a crucial platform to reinforce core familial principles, including love, health, knowledge, and harmony.

Over its two-day run, the programme featured a range of activities, from a colouring competition and a heritage sambal contest to advocacy sessions on child protection and family health.

Dato’ Abdul Shukur expressed his gratitude to the government agencies, corporate bodies, and local community members whose collaboration ensured the event’s success.
