Aid Coordinated for Sebuyau Fire Victim

Aid Coordinated for Sebuyau Fire Victim

SEBUYAU – Relief efforts are being coordinated for a local resident who lost his home in a fire last Thursday. The incident, which occurred at Kampung Jalan Sawmill, completely destroyed the house of Wan Roslan Wan Sait.

The Sarawak Minister for Utilities and Telecommunications, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, visited the site of the destroyed property to assess the situation.

During his visit, he presented an immediate cash contribution to the victim to help alleviate the family’s sudden hardship.

The minister, who also serves as the Sebuyau State Assemblyman, expressed his sympathy for the speed with which the fire consumed the entire structure.

He confirmed that arrangements for further assistance are now underway, with the primary goal being the swift reconstruction of the family’s home.

The broader issue of emergency response capabilities in the area was also addressed by the minister. He revealed that he had previously submitted an application to the Federal Government for the construction of a new fire station in Bandar Baharu Sebuyau.

This application was made to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi last year. The proposed facility is intended to significantly improve emergency response times and effectiveness in the surrounding locality.

While the authority for building fire stations lies with the Federal Government, the Sarawak State Government has committed to supporting the project by helping to prepare the necessary land.

The visit and coordination of aid were also attended by the Sebuyau District Officer, Ayuradiman Bujang. Community support is now mobilising to help the affected family recover from the devastating blaze and begin the process of rebuilding their home.

The incident has highlighted the ongoing need for enhanced firefighting infrastructure in the region to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
