Pesta Warisan 2025 Brings Joy and Unity to Bako Seberang Village

KUCHING – The Pesta Warisan 2025 (Human Heritage Festival) filled Kampung Bako Seberang with laughter, culture, and community spirit last Saturday night. The event was organised by the Kampung Bako Seberang Community Club (KJM) in collaboration with the What About Kuching (WAK) Festival 2025 and held at the Penghulu Hamid bin Sulong Hall, Kampung Bako Tengah.

More than 200 residents came together to celebrate their cultural roots through music, dance, and traditional arts. The lively event showed how the people of Bako Seberang continue to protect and honour their traditions while staying united as a community.

Among the special guests who attended were Encik Ruzaimeir bin Malek, Deputy Director of the DBKU Community Services Department; Puan Hajah Janibah binti Hazemi, Penghulu of Kampung Bako Seberang; Encik Zulhadi bin Sedik, Penghulu of Kampung Bako; and Encik Ramli Omar Baki, Head of the DBKU Community Development and Services Division.

Their presence reflected strong support for local efforts to preserve Sarawak’s cultural heritage and promote closer community relationships. The festival also featured performances by local groups, exhibitions of handmade crafts, and cultural storytelling that brought generations together.

Organisers said the goal of Pesta Warisan 2025 was to strengthen the bond among villagers and encourage the younger generation to take pride in their heritage. It also supports WAK Festival’s mission to celebrate the diversity of Kuching’s people and culture.

The evening ended with smiles, cheers, and a strong sense of togetherness — proving that community traditions remain alive and meaningful in today’s modern world.
