KUCHING — The Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching) has reaffirmed its dedication to keeping the city safe through two series of Integrated Crime Prevention Operations held from October 16–17 and October 18–19, 2025.
The operations, conducted across various parts of Kuching, brought together officers from multiple divisions and police stations under the IPD’s jurisdiction. According to a statement from IPD Kuching, the main goal of the operation was to ensure public safety and reduce property-related crimes such as vehicle theft, housebreaking and robbery.
Targeting known crime hotspots, police personnel conducted patrols, roadblocks, and random inspections in areas such as Sekama, Tabuan Jaya, and Gita. These strategic operations aimed to detect and deter criminal activity while building public confidence in the police force’s presence on the ground.
Throughout the two nights of enforcement, the police checked a total of 377 individuals and 280 vehicles. A total of 175 traffic summonses were issued for various offences, reflecting the department’s continued effort to improve road discipline and safety among motorists.
In addition, a man was detained to assist in an investigation under Section 427/506 of the Penal Code, while three motorcycles were seized under Section 60(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for further investigation.
IPD Kuching emphasised that such preventive operations will continue to be conducted regularly and consistently to ensure the city remains safe for all residents.
“The police will not compromise when it comes to public safety,” the statement said. “These operations are part of our proactive approach to curb crime before it happens and to assure the public that the situation in Kuching is under control.”
The district police also reiterated their slogan — ‘Police and Community Are Not Separated’ — highlighting the importance of cooperation between law enforcement and the public in maintaining peace and security in Kuching.
