KUCHING — A 42-year-old local man was found dead inside a parked car at the Demak Laut Customs House this morning, sparking concern among onlookers before police confirmed there were no signs of foul play.
According to a statement issued by the Kuching District Police Headquarters, a distress call was received at around 9.08am from a member of the public who discovered the man unconscious inside the vehicle.
Acting swiftly on the report, a police team from the Gita Police Station was dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found the man unresponsive in the driver’s seat. He was immediately taken to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), where medical officers later confirmed his death.
The body has since been sent to the Forensic Department of SGH for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Preliminary investigations conducted at the site revealed no elements of criminal activity, and police have classified the case as a sudden death.
In a press statement, Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu advised members of the public not to make unfounded assumptions or spread speculation regarding the incident, out of respect for the deceased’s family.
