Bau Police Arrest 21-Year-Old Suspect in Motorcycle Theft and Chicken Spur Case

Bau Police Arrest 21-Year-Old Suspect in Motorcycle Theft and Chicken Spur Case

BAU — A 21-year-old local man suspected of being involved in a series of motorcycle thefts around Bau has been arrested following a special police operation carried out by the Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD Bau) on Sunday afternoon.

District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Haide Bin A Rahman, said the arrest was made at around 3.50pm during an Op Pencegahan Jenayah / Op Lejang Khas conducted by the Bau police team.

During the arrest, police discovered a motorcycle that was recently reported stolen in Batu Kawa, along with cash in both Malaysian and Indonesian currencies. Officers also found a chicken spur (taji ayam), believed to have been used as a weapon by the suspect.

“The suspect is believed to be active in stealing motorcycles in the Bau area since July this year. With his arrest, the police have successfully solved at least 10 motorcycle theft cases linked to the same pattern of crime,” said Supt Mohd Haide.

He added that the operation was part of ongoing efforts by the Bau District Police to curb property crimes and enhance community safety. The suspect is currently being detained for further investigation under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which covers motorcycle theft, and for possessing a dangerous weapon.

Supt Mohd Haide also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station to help reduce theft cases in the district.

The successful arrest once again highlights the dedication of the Bau police in maintaining public order and protecting the community from criminal activities.
