Sri Aman Contingent Eyes Podium at RANDO Sarawak Sports Carnival 2025

SRI AMAN – The Sri Aman Division Administration and District Offices (RANDO) have officially launched their contingent for the RANDO Sarawak Sports Carnival 2025, with high hopes of securing medals and strengthening unity among civil servants across the state.

The launch ceremony, held at the Sri Aman Resident Office meeting room, introduced the team’s jersey and participation lineup. The event marked the division’s spirited preparation for the carnival, which will take place in Samarahan from 6 to 9 November.

Resident of Sri Aman, Mahra Salleh, who officiated the launch, emphasised the contingent’s determination to combine discipline and teamwork in pursuit of sporting excellence. The team’s jersey, featuring a blue dove emblem, symbolises resilience, loyalty, and unity, values the contingent aims to embody both on and off the field.

A total of 94 athletes will represent Sri Aman, comprising 61 men and 33 women. The contingent is particularly focused on achieving a gold medal in Pickleball, which will make its debut as a competitive sport at this year’s carnival. Other medal targets include bronze finishes in Netball and Football, while Badminton and Table Tennis teams are expected to reach the semifinal stages.

Mahra, who also leads the contingent, expressed confidence in the team’s prospects, citing Sri Aman’s recent success as runner-up in the parade competition during the official birthday celebration of the Sarawak Head of State. He described the achievement as proof of the team’s discipline and commitment.

The contingent has set its sights on finishing among the top five out of twelve participating divisions. Beyond competition, Mahra highlighted the importance of the carnival in fostering inter-agency cooperation, professional values, and camaraderie within the civil service.

“We want the spirit of ‘Rise RANDO Sri Aman, Rise Fly High’ to be reflected not only on the court but also in our daily duties as civil servants serving the people,” he said.

All sporting events will be hosted at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), with Pickleball matches scheduled at The Summer Shopping Mall, Kota Samarahan.

The launch concluded with words of encouragement for athletes to uphold discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork throughout the carnival, reflecting the identity and values of the Sri Aman public service.

Also present at the ceremony were Sri Aman Deputy Resident Charlie Keling, Sri Aman District Officer Shariff Bujang, Lingga District Office representative Nurshazani Fadli Bin Salihin, as well as representatives from Pantu and Lubok Antu districts, team managers, and contingent members.

The RANDO Sarawak Sports Carnival 2025, hosted by Samarahan, will bring together civil servants from all 12 divisions of Sarawak. The event is designed not only as a platform for competition but also as an opportunity to build stronger networks and unity among government agencies statewide.
