Driver Injured After Tree Falls on Car Along Jalan Sultan Tengah

PETRA JAYA, Nov 5: A man suffered a shoulder injury when a tree suddenly fell and crashed onto his car while he was driving along Jalan Sultan Tengah this afternoon.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, the incident occurred at around 2.16pm. A distress call was received and a team from the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station was immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival at 2.21pm, the team found that a Perodua Bezza had been struck by a fallen tree, causing severe damage to the car’s roof,” the department said in a statement.

The driver, a man, sustained injuries to his shoulder, while two female passengers and a young boy who were also in the vehicle escaped unharmed.

All victims were successfully rescued by members of the public before firefighters arrived. The injured driver received first aid treatment at the scene from the Malaysian Red Crescent (PBSM) team.

Firefighters later carried out clearing operations to cut and remove the fallen tree to ensure the area was safe for road users.

The operation was led by PBK II (TBBK I) Ibrahim Hasan and involved eight firefighters, a Fire and Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle, and a Hilux support vehicle. The operation was fully completed by 3.04pm.

Fortunately, no further injuries or casualties were reported. The swift response from emergency teams and concerned citizens helped prevent a more serious outcome.

Motorists are advised to remain alert, especially during unpredictable weather conditions that can cause falling trees and other hazards on the road.
