Semi-Conscious Woman and Two Children Rescued from Locked Room in Bintulu

Semi-Conscious Woman and Two Children Rescued from Locked Room in Bintulu

BINTULU, Nov 6 – A 33-year-old woman was found semi-conscious while her two young children were rescued unharmed after being trapped inside a locked rented room on the first floor of a business premise in Parkcity, Bintulu, earlier today.

According to a spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the department received an emergency call at 1.11 pm and immediately dispatched a team of eight firefighters from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) to the scene.

“Upon arrival, our team discovered that the victims — one adult woman and two children, including a baby — were locked inside the room. After the door was successfully opened, the woman was found in a semi-conscious state,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

The rescue team promptly provided assistance before handing the woman over to the Ministry of Health (KKM) ambulance personnel for medical attention.

Meanwhile, the two children, aged two years and five months, were found unharmed and were later placed under the care of the Social Welfare Department (JKM) for further observation and safety arrangements.

Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the incident or how the room became locked. Investigations are currently underway to determine if any element of negligence or foul play was involved.

The swift action by JBPM Bintulu received praise from nearby residents, who commended the firefighters for their professionalism and timely response.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety awareness, especially for families living in rented premises where security and ventilation conditions may vary.
