MUKAH, 6 Nov 2025 – A 30-year-old local man was detained after testing positive for methamphetamine during an Integrated Crime Prevention Operation (Op Pencegahan Jenayah Bersepadu) conducted by the Mukah District Police Headquarters (IPD Mukah) on Thursday.
The operation, which began at 8.00 am, was held across several locations under the jurisdiction of the Balingian Police Station — including the Balingian Old Market, Jalan Balingian–Bintulu, and Kuala Balingian. It concluded at noon.
A total of 21 officers and personnel took part in the operation, which was led by ASP Stephen Buda anak Kiding, Head of the District Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division. The team carried out surprise checks (Snap Check), roadblocks (SJR), and crime prevention patrols throughout the targeted areas.
According to ASP Stephen, the main goal of the operation was to detect individuals involved in criminal and drug-related activities, ensure compliance with traffic laws — particularly for heavy vehicles — and prevent crime in the Balingian sub-district.
During the four-hour operation, police checked 99 individuals and 86 vehicles. The suspect, who works as a labourer, was detained during a roadside inspection along Jalan Balingian–Bintulu. A urine test conducted at the Balingian Police Station later confirmed that he tested positive for methamphetamine (syabu).
The man has been taken to IPD Mukah for further action, and the case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries penalties including fines or imprisonment upon conviction.
In addition, 13 traffic summonses were issued for various offences detected during the checks. Police said such operations will continue to be conducted regularly to ensure public safety, curb criminal activities, and maintain order within the district.
