BATANG LUPAR – The Beting Maro constituency has received RM205 million in funding from the RM1.5 billion allocation approved for the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA), marking a significant step in advancing rural development across Sarawak.
State Assemblyman Dato Razaili Gapor announced the allocation during the Beting Maro Thanksgiving Ceremony on Monday, noting that the funds will be channelled into infrastructure and community projects aimed at improving the quality of life for residents.
He expressed gratitude to Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, for endorsing the BDDA initiative, which distributes development funds across eight constituencies in the division.
Razaili highlighted that the RM205 million earmarked for Beting Maro would enable the implementation of multiple projects, ranging from basic amenities to larger-scale facilities.
Among the planned developments is a RM25 million sports complex in Pusa, designed to provide recreational opportunities and encourage youth participation in sports.
Razaili stressed that beyond physical infrastructure, the allocation is expected to stimulate economic growth, creating opportunities for local communities to increase household income.
The BDDA, chaired by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, has already submitted more than 80 projects for approval, covering infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, and social development.
These initiatives are part of Sarawak’s broader strategy to ensure balanced progress between urban and rural areas, in line with the state’s “Sarawak Maju Makmur” vision.
Razaili emphasised that the focus in Beting Maro remains on strengthening basic facilities such as roads, utilities, and community centres, while also encouraging sustainable economic activities.
He noted that the combination of physical and economic development would help uplift rural communities and reduce disparities between regions.
The ceremony was attended by Pusa District Officer Jamain Wahab and other dignitaries, reflecting the collaborative effort between local authorities and the state government to ensure smooth implementation of projects.
The BDDA allocation underscores Sarawak’s commitment to long-term development planning. With RM1.5 billion distributed across constituencies such as Layar, Bukit Saban, Krian, Saribas, Kabong, Kalaka, and parts of Lingga, the initiative is expected to transform Betong Division into a hub of modern infrastructure and socio-economic growth.
By securing RM205 million, Beting Maro is set to benefit from enhanced facilities, improved connectivity, and expanded opportunities for its residents, reinforcing the state’s pledge to deliver inclusive development across all regions.
