Kuching, 10 November 2025 – A 55-year-old security guard was seriously injured early this morning after being attacked by a colleague at the lobby post of Sarawak General Hospital. The incident occurred at about 4.00 am on 10 November 2025.
According to police reports, the victim was struck from behind with a wooden object, sustaining head injuries that required eight stitches and a fractured right thumb. He was immediately treated at the hospital’s emergency unit.
Investigations revealed that the suspect, a 29-year-old colleague of the victim, carried out the attack due to personal disputes over a debt. CCTV footage and witness statements were crucial in identifying the suspect.
The Kuching district police acted swiftly and arrested the suspect on the same day. He has been remanded until 15 November 2025 for further investigation under charges of causing injury with a weapon or dangerous object.
Kuching District Police Chief reminded the public to handle disputes calmly and avoid taking matters into their own hands, as such actions could lead to serious harm or legal consequences.
Police continue to investigate the incident, urging anyone with additional information to come forward to assist in the inquiry.
