JPJ Betong Tightens Road Safety Enforcement in Pan Borneo Operation

JPJ Betong Tightens Road Safety Enforcement in Pan Borneo Operation

Betong – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Betong Branch carried out a strict enforcement operation along Jalan Pan Borneo, Betong–Sri Aman, with the goal of boosting road law compliance and protecting the safety of all motorists.

The targeted operation, held as part of JPJ’s ongoing effort to strengthen road discipline, saw a total of 126 vehicles inspected. Officers issued 51 notices for various offences, including driving without a valid license, expired road tax, carrying excessive loads, and technical violations involving vehicle safety standards.

According to a JPJ Betong spokesperson, the operation focused on detecting offences that directly contribute to accidents and unsafe road conditions. “We want every driver and vehicle owner to realise that road safety starts with compliance. Our presence on the road is to ensure everyone follows the law for their own safety and for others,” the spokesperson said.

The JPJ emphasised that such enforcement activities are not meant to penalise drivers unnecessarily but to educate and remind motorists about the importance of roadworthiness and proper documentation.

Regular operations like this will continue throughout Sarawak, particularly on major routes such as the Pan Borneo Highway, where heavy traffic movement increases the likelihood of road infractions and accidents.

JPJ added that it will not compromise when it comes to public safety, urging all drivers to check their road tax, driving licenses, and vehicle conditions before travelling. The department’s consistent enforcement strategy is part of a wider nationwide effort to reduce road accidents and promote a culture of responsible driving.

The operation concluded smoothly with full cooperation from road users, reflecting JPJ’s firm yet educational approach toward maintaining discipline on Malaysian roads.
