Ops Gempur JPJ Kuching: 154 Commercial Vehicles Inspected

KUCHING, 24 November 2025 – The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) has carried out a major enforcement drive under Ops Gempur Commercial Vehicles, targeting commercial vehicles across Kuching.

Led by KPKM Faizal Hashim bin Fauzi, the Kuching Operations Unit’s Team Echo, comprising four members, conducted checks at several strategic locations in the city to ensure all commercial vehicles comply with road safety laws.

During the operation, 154 vehicles were inspected. Authorities uncovered a range of offences, including drivers without a valid license, expired driving licenses, expired road tax, and other technical violations.

JPJ Sarawak stressed that the operation aims not only to enforce the law but also to educate vehicle owners and drivers about the importance of road safety and proper vehicle maintenance. “Every commercial vehicle driver has a duty to ensure their vehicle is in safe working condition and meets all legal requirements,” said a JPJ spokesperson.

The department reminded the public that enforcement actions are constructive in nature, intended to prevent accidents and protect all road users rather than merely to impose penalties. Drivers are encouraged to regularly check their licenses, road tax, and vehicle condition to avoid violations and ensure safer roads for everyone.

This operation is part of JPJ Sarawak’s ongoing commitment to enhance traffic safety, particularly for commercial vehicles that pose higher risks if not properly maintained or legally compliant. Authorities plan to continue such operations regularly to uphold road safety standards across the state.
