SIBU – Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Abang Ali has officially named its new administration block after the late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, wife of the Sarawak Premier and a former student of the school. The dedication honours her lifelong commitment to education and welfare, reflecting her enduring legacy in Sarawak.
The naming ceremony was officiated by her daughter, Dayang Norjihan Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari, who described the gesture as a symbol of appreciation for her mother’s contributions to the state’s educational development and community welfare.
Puan Sri Juma’ani, remembered for her tireless efforts in supporting educators and students, is celebrated not only as the spouse of the Premier but also as a figure who championed the importance of education and social well-being. The new block, now known as the Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma’ani Block, stands as a tribute to her dedication.
The ceremony also featured the Khatam Al-Quran involving 91 Year 6 students from the 2025 session. The event marked their successful completion of the recitation of the Al-Quran, a significant milestone before progressing to secondary school.
Dayang Norjihan toured the new administration block and observed the Khatam Al-Quran programme, underscoring the school’s commitment to Islamic religious education. The dual celebration highlighted both the spiritual achievements of the students and the recognition of a respected figure in Sarawak’s educational history.
School officials noted that the ceremony reflects SK Abang Ali’s broader mission of nurturing academic excellence while honouring individuals who have contributed to the state’s educational progress. The event also reinforced the importance of integrating cultural and religious values into the school’s development.
By naming the new block after Puan Sri Juma’ani, SK Abang Ali has created a lasting reminder of her legacy, ensuring that future generations of students and educators continue to draw inspiration from her life’s work.
