KUCHING – Sarawak is positioning itself as a future hub for green aerospace in the Asia Pacific region with the launch of the Asia Pacific Aerospace Conference and Exhibition (APACE) 2026, scheduled from 27 to 29 January 2026 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
The event, the first of its kind in Sarawak, is expected to attract global aerospace leaders, innovators, and investors.
According to Minister of Education, Innovation and Skills Development (MEITD) Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, APACE 2026 will showcase Sarawak’s commitment to advancing aerospace, engineering, and green technology as part of its new economic growth strategy.
“This is not just another conference, APACE 2026 will be a major conference that unites the global aerospace and aviation community,” Roland Sagah said during a press briefing at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly.
The conference will be officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg on 27 January. It will highlight four key themes:
- Aerotropolis development to integrate aviation with urban growth.
- Digitalisation and modern aerospace technology to enhance competitiveness.
- Transition to sustainable aviation through green energy adoption.
- Skills development to build a highly skilled workforce for the future.
Organisers expect more than 3,000 attendees, including 1,000 delegates, 50 exhibitors, and 60 international speakers.
Over 50 conference sessions will feature contributions from leading organisations such as NAICO Malaysia, NACO Netherlands, the Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA), the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and NOVASPACE France.
Roland Sagah revealed that discussions are underway to finalise five to seven Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during the event, signalling strong investor confidence in Sarawak’s aerospace ecosystem.
The initiative is seen as a milestone in Sarawak’s ambition to diversify its economy and establish itself as a competitive player in sustainable aviation.
Analysts note that the state’s focus on green aerospace aligns with global trends towards decarbonisation and innovation in aviation.
Also present at the media conference were MEITD Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Annuar Rapa’ee, MEITD Permanent Secretary Datu Adana Jed, and Borneo Business Connect Sdn Bhd Executive Director Nadzeem Abd Rahman, underscoring the collaborative effort behind the event.
With APACE 2026, Sarawak aims to strengthen its role in the international aerospace community while creating opportunities for local industries, talent development, and sustainable growth.
