PM Anwar Reaffirms Sabah Rights and Calls for Unity in Petagas

PETAGAS – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has assured the people of Sabah that their rights, claims, and interests will continue to be protected under the MADANI Government, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to equitable development across the state.

Speaking during a meeting with residents in Petagas, Anwar stressed that infrastructure development remains a priority to ensure Sabah does not fall behind other states.

He explained that ongoing projects are designed to strengthen the foundations of the economy and improve living standards, enabling Sabah to stand on par with its peers.

The Prime Minister highlighted that various assistance schemes and initiatives introduced by the MADANI Government are being sustained to ease the burden on households.

These include welfare programmes, subsidies, and targeted support aimed at ensuring that families across Sabah benefit from national progress.

Anwar also urged the people of Petagas to act as “true and accurate delivery agents” by sharing information about government policies and initiatives with their communities.

He emphasised that clear communication is essential to ensure citizens understand the support available to them and the broader vision for Sabah’s development.

During the event, Anwar called on voters in Petagas to give Awang Husaini the opportunity to serve in the State Assembly.

He described Husaini as a candidate with determination, seriousness, and a genuine agenda for change, noting that his presence reflects a commitment to advancing the interests of the constituency.

Observers point out that Anwar’s remarks align with the broader MADANI framework, which focuses on sustainable growth, social justice, and inclusivity.

The emphasis on safeguarding Sabah’s rights underlines the government’s pledge to uphold commitments made under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), a long-standing issue central to Sabah’s political discourse.

As campaigning intensifies ahead of the state election, Anwar’s message in Petagas reinforces the government’s stance that unity, fairness, and effective delivery of policies are key to building a prosperous and respected Sabah.
