KUCHING – In a heartwarming display of family unity amidst official state duties, the Sarawak Head of State (Governor), Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, hosted a private gathering at his official residence this morning.
Accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, the Head of State welcomed extended family members who had travelled specially from the Betong Division to the state capital.
The casual breakfast session was held at the Governor’s official residence in Petra Jaya, offering a rare moment of respite from the rigorous demands of public office.
The gathering was centred around the descendants and family members of Tuanku Manshur and Tuanku Hamid, highlighting the deep ancestral roots and close-knit nature of the family.
Adding to the intimate atmosphere of the morning was the presence of the couple’s daughter, Puan Sharifah Fariah, who joined her parents in entertaining the guests.
For the delegation from Betong, the visit was a significant opportunity to reconnect with Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan.
The session was described as warm and cordial, filled with laughter and the sharing of personal anecdotes.
It provided a platform for the relatives to strengthen their silaturrahim (brotherly bonds) and catch up on the latest developments within their respective households.
During the interaction, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi emphasised the critical importance of the family institution.
He noted that regardless of how high one climbs in their career or how busy daily official schedules may become, the family remains the fundamental pillar of strength and support.
The ability to ground oneself in family values is seen as essential for maintaining balance in life.
The exchange of stories went beyond mere pleasantries, touching on the aspirations, careers, and general well-being of the extended family members.
Both Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan expressed their deep appreciation for the visit, acknowledging the effort made by their kin to travel from Betong for the reunion.
In his message to the guests, the Head of State conveyed his hopes that all family members would continue to be blessed with good health.
He also offered his prayers for their continued success in their various endeavours, encouraging them to pursue their ambitions with dedication.
This morning’s event serves as a reminder of the traditional Sarawakian values that prioritise family connection and respect for elders, principles that the Head of State continues to champion both in his public and private life.
