KUCHING – The Sarawak government has reinforced the state’s traffic policing capabilities with the donation of 10 high-powered motorcycles to the Royal Malaysia Police.
The Yamaha FJR1300A units were officially handed over to the Sarawak Contingent Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department during a ceremony at Wisma Bapa Malaysia.
The event was officiated by Dato’ Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Deputy Secretary to the State Government (Economic Planning & Development), representing Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak State Secretary.
The motorcycles were received by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Saifullizan Ishak, who expressed gratitude for the contribution. He noted that the new fleet would significantly enhance the department’s ability to carry out traffic assignments across Sarawak.
DCP Saifullizan also highlighted the importance of road discipline and law enforcement, reminding that while Sarawakians are generally disciplined drivers, there is always room for improvement to ensure public safety.
The initiative forms part of the state government’s broader strategy to strengthen law enforcement and improve road safety. The addition of the motorcycles is expected to enable more effective monitoring of traffic conditions and enforcement of regulations, particularly in high-density and accident-prone areas.
This latest contribution follows a similar effort in September, when the state government donated four Toyota Hilux Double Cab 2.4E four-wheel drive vehicles to the Sarawak Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department. That move was aimed at enhancing mobility and operational efficiency in tackling drug-related crimes.
By equipping the police force with modern vehicles, the Sarawak government continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting security agencies and ensuring the safety of communities across the state. The combined resources are expected to improve response times, strengthen enforcement, and provide greater visibility of law enforcement officers on the roads.
The handover ceremony at Wisma Bapa Malaysia symbolised the close cooperation between the state administration and the Royal Malaysia Police, reflecting a shared goal of maintaining order and safeguarding public welfare.
