Pantai Damai Caring Programme Extends Aid to Vulnerable Families

KUCHING – The Pantai Damai Caring Pilgrimage Programme has continued its mission of supporting vulnerable groups by delivering assistance directly to households in need across the Pantai Damai constituency.

In its latest outreach, nine recipients – including senior citizens, single mothers and families facing hardship – received tailored support ranging from basic necessities to wheelchairs and other aid suited to their circumstances.

The initiative was carried out through house-to-house visits by the Pantai Damai Caring Squad, ensuring that help reached individuals in their own homes.

The programme was further strengthened by the involvement of Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for the Regional Development Agency, DBKU and Islamic Affairs) and Pantai Damai State Assemblyman.

He personally joined the visits, spending time with recipients and listening to their concerns. His presence provided encouragement while underlining his commitment to prioritising community welfare.

Organisers explained that the personalised approach not only alleviates immediate burdens but also helps the Caring Squad gain a clearer understanding of the challenges residents face. These include health issues, financial difficulties and limited mobility, which often prevent families from accessing assistance on their own.

The programme is expected to continue on a regular basis, with the aim of reaching more households in need. By maintaining consistent engagement, the initiative seeks to strengthen solidarity within the Pantai Damai community and foster a culture of care and mutual support.

Community leaders have noted that such programmes complement broader state welfare strategies, ensuring that assistance is not only available but also accessible to those who may otherwise be overlooked.

The Caring Pilgrimage Programme reflects Sarawak’s wider emphasis on grassroots outreach, where government representatives and local squads work together to identify and respond to community needs.

Residents have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a meaningful effort that bridges the gap between government services and everyday realities. With continued support, the programme is expected to expand its reach, reinforcing the values of compassion and inclusivity across Pantai Damai.
