Thousands Gather as 72 Groups Join Kuching Christmas Parade

KUCHING – The Kuching Christmas Parade 2025 drew thousands of spectators on Saturday as 72 groups representing various Christian denominations across Sarawak came together in a vibrant display of unity and festive spirit.

Organised by the Sarawak Churches Society (SCS), with the Methodist Church serving as the main host this year, the parade has become one of the state’s most anticipated annual celebrations.

The event showcased colourful floats, lively performances, and joyful music, creating a festive atmosphere that captivated both locals and international visitors.

Approximately 7,000 participants joined the four-kilometre procession, which began at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Jubilee Field.

The parade route wound through several of the city’s main streets, including Jalan Padungan, Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman, Lebuh Temple, Lebuh Wayang, Jalan Tabuan, and Jalan Ban Hock, before returning to the Jubilee Field.

Spectators lined the streets to witness the creative displays and community participation, with many describing the parade as a highlight of the Christmas season in Sarawak.

The event not only celebrated faith and tradition but also reinforced Kuching’s reputation as a hub for cultural and religious festivities.

The annual parade continues to serve as a platform for fostering unity among diverse communities, while also boosting tourism by attracting visitors eager to experience Sarawak’s unique blend of heritage and celebration.
