Malaysia Extends RM500 Aid to All Indonesian Students Affected by Disaster

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia has announced financial assistance for Indonesian students studying in the country who have been affected by the recent disaster in Aceh and North Sumatra.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that each affected student will receive RM500 as an initial contribution, reflecting Malaysia’s solidarity and goodwill towards its closest neighbour.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Malaysia expressed its sympathy and condolences to the Government of Indonesia and its people, emphasising the strong family-like ties between the two nations.

“Malaysia stands in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who are going through this difficult time,” the statement read.

The contribution is intended to ease the burden faced by Indonesian students in Malaysia following the disaster.

Students who have been affected are encouraged to register with their respective educational institutions to enable assistance to be coordinated and channelled according to their needs.

The initiative is part of the Malaysia MADANI framework, which underscores compassion, inclusivity and shared responsibility in responding to humanitarian challenges.

Malaysia’s gesture highlights the importance of regional cooperation and mutual support during times of crisis, reinforcing the longstanding relationship between Malaysia and Indonesia.
