KUALA LUMPUR – Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) has bestowed a unique honour on YABhg. Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi by naming a newly hybridised orchid species after her.
The announcement was made during the university’s 24th Convocation Ceremony, held on Saturday morning.
The orchid, now officially recognised as the Fauziah Orchid, belongs to the Phalaenopsis hybrid species. It is distinguished by its soft hues and intricate patterns, symbolising elegance and resilience.
The naming reflects UNIRAZAK’s recognition of Toh Puan Fauziah’s contributions to society and her embodiment of noble character, humility and authority.
In his address, the UNIRAZAK Pro-Chancellor expressed deep appreciation for Toh Puan Fauziah’s active involvement in sports, not only as a participant but also as an organiser of numerous events that promote healthy living and community engagement. He highlighted her role in cultivating a culture of wellness and discipline among Malaysians.
Beyond sports, her contributions to the aviation industry were also acknowledged. With more than two decades of involvement, Toh Puan Fauziah has played a significant role in advancing the sector, an achievement that has often remained understated but continues to leave a lasting impact.
The recognition was described as highly meaningful, with the Orkid Fauziah expected to serve as a symbol of love, tenderness, strength and excellence among Malaysian women. It is hoped that the orchid will inspire future generations to emulate her values and achievements.
UNIRAZAK reaffirmed its commitment to honouring individuals who have made substantial contributions to the nation.
The university noted that Toh Puan Fauziah’s example aligns with its aspirations to celebrate figures who embody dedication, leadership and service to society.
