Sri Aman Christmas Parade 2025 Draws 1,300 Worshippers In Festive Unity

SIMANGGANG – The Sri Aman Christmas Parade 2025 united more than 1,300 Christians from nine churches in a lively yet orderly procession through the town centre on Saturday evening, underscoring the spirit of unity and cooperation among the local Christian community.

A total of 1,313 participants joined the annual celebration, representing the Roman Catholic Church, Sing Eng Methodist Church, Shi En Methodist Church, St Luke’s Church, Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM), Victory Lutheran Church (VLC), Baptist Church, Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) and St Lawrence’s Church.

St Luke’s Church recorded the largest turnout with 579 participants, followed by the Roman Catholic Church with 215 participants and St Lawrence’s Church with 201 participants.

Other churches contributed smaller groups, including Sing Eng Methodist Church (94), Shi En Methodist Church (65), BEM (78), VLC (19), Baptist Church (40) and SDA Church (22).

The parade was coordinated by David Marshal and organised by the Association of Churches in Sarawak (ACS) Sri Aman branch, in collaboration with St Luke’s Church.

The programme began at 6.30 pm at the church compound with spiritual activities such as Bible readings, choir performances, a sermon, and an address by ACS Sri Aman chairman Ajai Janggong.

The procession officially commenced at 7.45 pm, covering a route of approximately 1.5 kilometres. Participants marched through Jalan Munggu Sabun, Jalan Hospital, the Pasir Panas roundabout, Jalan Club and Jalan Main Bazaar, before concluding at the Batang Lupar Waterfront Park at around 9 pm.

Organisers reported that the event was carried out smoothly and in an orderly manner, with strong cooperation from all parties involved.

A spokesperson expressed appreciation to the churches, volunteers, and local authorities for ensuring the success of this year’s parade.

The Sri Aman Christmas Parade has become a cherished tradition, bringing together diverse congregations to celebrate the festive season while strengthening community ties.

The 2025 edition once again highlighted the importance of faith, fellowship, and cultural expression in Sarawak’s Christian community.
