Five Families Relocated After River Erosion in Kampung Segera Jaya

GEDONG – Five households affected by severe river erosion in Kampung Segera Jaya have received Temporary Occupancy Licenses (TOLs), providing them with relocation to safer ground under the Village Expansion Scheme (SPK).

The licences were handed over as part of a critical mitigation measure to safeguard residents from ongoing erosion risks.

The initiative ensures that affected families can move to secure areas, reducing the likelihood of future disasters.

Following the distribution, the Samarahan Division Land and Survey Department (JTS) conducted a briefing session to explain the responsibilities, conditions, and legal compliance required of TOL holders.

Officials emphasised that the process must be carried out in an orderly and transparent manner, in line with existing land laws.

Present at the session were Mohammad Zunica Mohamad Sapi’ee, Samarahan Division Land and Survey Superintendent, and Tamida Da’adi, Gedong District Officer.

The event was also witnessed by local community leaders and village heads (KMKK), reflecting the collaborative effort to ensure smooth relocation.

Authorities noted that the issuance of TOLs is part of a broader strategy to manage land use effectively while prioritising community safety.

By relocating families under the Gedong SPK, the government aims to provide long-term stability and reduce vulnerability to natural hazards.

The move underscores the importance of proactive disaster management and highlights the role of local agencies in supporting affected communities.

For the families of Kampung Segera Jaya, the licences represent not only legal assurance but also a renewed sense of security and hope for the future.
