SIMANGGANG – Members of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) have been urged to strengthen unity and expand membership in order to reinforce the party’s position at both grassroots and state levels.
Speaking at the Simanggang Zone Pre-Christmas 2025 Dinner held at Hotel Seri Simanggang, PRS President and Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai, emphasised the importance of collective effort and cooperation among members.
He called on each division to set a target of at least 3,000 members, noting that such growth would enhance the party’s machinery and ensure stronger representation across Sarawak.
“I hope each division can target at least 3,000 members to reinforce the party’s strength and machinery at the grassroots level,” he said.
Dato Sri John Sikie also encouraged more professionals and experts to join PRS, highlighting the need for fresh perspectives and technical expertise to support the party’s mission and contribute to Sarawak’s overall development.
He stressed that the inclusion of skilled individuals would help the party remain relevant in addressing modern challenges.
During his speech, he expressed gratitude to members and delegates for their support during the recent PRS Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC), where he was entrusted with the leadership role as Party President. He reaffirmed his commitment to guiding PRS towards greater unity and resilience.
The dinner was attended by several prominent figures, including Deputy Digital Minister Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, Bukit Begunan Assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang, who also served as Organising Chairman, as well as community leaders, party representatives, and residents from the Sri Aman Division.
The gathering reflected PRS’s ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with grassroots supporters while reinforcing its organisational structure.
Observers noted that the emphasis on membership expansion and professional involvement signals the party’s intention to adapt to changing political landscapes and ensure long-term sustainability.
PRS, as part of Sarawak’s political framework, continues to play a role in shaping policies and contributing to the state’s development.
The call for unity and growth underlines the leadership’s vision of a stronger, more inclusive party capable of addressing the needs of diverse communities across Sarawak.
