Yang di-Pertuan Agong Arrives in Abu Dhabi for First Special Visit

ABU DHABI – His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim has safely arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for his very first special visit, following an invitation from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

His Majesty’s special aircraft landed at Zayed International Airport, Abu Dhabi, at 11.45 am local time on 22 December. Upon arrival, Sultan Ibrahim was warmly received by Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Minister of State at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Also present to welcome His Majesty was His Excellency Tengku Dato’ Sirajuzzaman Tengku Mohamed Ariffin, Malaysian Ambassador to the UAE.

The visit marks Sultan Ibrahim’s first official trip to the UAE since ascending the throne, and is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties between Malaysia and the Emirates.

Both nations share longstanding relations in trade, investment, and cultural exchange, with the UAE recognised as one of Malaysia’s key partners in the Middle East.

Observers note that the visit underscores Malaysia’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Muslim-majority countries, while reinforcing shared values of friendship and mutual respect.

The engagements scheduled during the trip are anticipated to include high-level discussions with UAE leaders, focusing on economic collaboration, sustainable development, and cultural diplomacy.

Malaysia’s leadership has consistently emphasised the importance of building strong international partnerships, and Sultan Ibrahim’s presence in Abu Dhabi reflects the country’s proactive approach to global diplomacy.

The special visit will continue until 24 December, with further programmes expected to highlight Malaysia’s role in fostering closer ties with the UAE and the wider region.
