Father Donates Kidney to Daughter, Community Stood in Support

Father Donates Kidney to Daughter, Community Stood in Support

KUCHING – A father’s love and the strength of the community were clearly seen in a touching charity effort organised under the initiative of YB Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang, which brought hope to a family facing a difficult medical journey. The initiative was held to support Mr Lee Jun Kiong, who bravely underwent a kidney transplant operation in Kuala Lumpur to donate one of his kidneys to his 12-year-old daughter, Lee Xin Yue, who has been suffering from kidney dysfunction.

The story of the family quickly touched the hearts of many. As news of the father’s sacrifice spread, members of the community, stepped forward without hesitation to offer help. Their response reflected the deep sense of care and togetherness that remains strong within the local society.

Through the charity drive, a total of 87 donors came forward to contribute funds. The effort successfully raised RM18,858.00, which will help ease the financial burden faced by the family during this challenging period. Medical treatment, travel, and recovery costs can place heavy pressure on families, and the support received has provided much-needed relief and encouragement.

Most importantly, there is positive news regarding the operation. The kidney transplant was reported to have gone smoothly. Both Mr Lee Jun Kiong and his daughter are currently recovering well. The family has expressed deep gratitude and renewed hope as they move forward with confidence and faith.

As a gesture of thanksgiving and solidarity, YB Dato Lo Khere Chiang hosted a “makan selamat” session with the family this evening. The gathering is meant to give thanks for the successful operation and to show moral support to the family. Such traditional gestures remain an important part of Malaysian culture, reminding everyone of the value of togetherness during both difficult and joyful moments.

The family and organisers extended their heartfelt thanks to all donors, supporters, and well-wishers who contributed in any way. Their kindness has made a real difference and stands as a strong reminder that when the community stands united, no family has to face hardship alone.

This meaningful act of love, sacrifice, and collective support serves as an example for the wider public. It reflects the enduring values of compassion and unity that continue to guide Malaysian society into the future.
