Deputy Finance Minister Briefed on Credit Reporting Agencies Act

PUTRAJAYA – The Office of the Registrar of Credit Reporting Agencies (PPK) today held a briefing session for YB Liew Chin Tong, the newly appointed Deputy Minister of Finance, at Treasury 2.

The session was led by YBrs. Encik Idwan Ariff bin Abdul Rahman, Registrar of Credit Reporting Agencies, and attended by Encik Abdillah bin Azizudin, Deputy Registrar of the Registration and Industrial Development Section, alongside senior PPK officers.

The briefing outlined the functions and responsibilities of PPK as the regulator of the Credit Reporting Agencies Act [Act 710], which governs the operations of credit reporting agencies in Malaysia.

Discussions also touched on the latest developments in the industry, including regulatory updates and measures to strengthen transparency and accountability in credit reporting practices.

YB Liew Chin Tong was also given an overview of how PPK ensures compliance with Act 710, safeguarding consumer rights while supporting the financial ecosystem.

The Deputy Minister later visited the PPK office, where he met and socialised with staff, reflecting his commitment to engaging directly with the department’s personnel.

The session marked an important step in familiarising the Deputy Minister with the regulatory framework underpinning Malaysia’s credit reporting industry.

It also highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure that credit reporting agencies operate with integrity, providing reliable data to support financial institutions and consumers alike.
