KUALA BARAM – The newly opened Nurul Ibadah Mosque Hall in Kampung Muhibbah Kuala Baram is set to become a central hub for community activities, marking a significant step forward in the development of structured and inclusive facilities for residents in the N.75 Senadin constituency.
The hall was officially launched on Saturday by Sarawak Transport Minister and Senadin State Assemblyman (ADUN) Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, who described the facility as a vital asset for the community.
He emphasised that the hall will support religious, social, and community programmes in a more organised and sustainable manner.
Dato Sri Lee praised the efforts of the Nurul Ibadah Mosque Committee and local residents, noting that their collaboration and commitment made the project possible.
“The mosque plays a role beyond worship alone. It is also a centre for social interaction, human development and community discussion. The presence of this hall opens up space for organising community programmes such as feasts, religious courses, youth activities, welfare programmes and residents’ meetings in a more comfortable and organised atmosphere,” he said.
The facility is expected to serve as a platform for youth engagement, particularly in educational and developmental activities.
Authorities hope this will encourage greater participation from younger generations in community-building efforts, while instilling values of responsibility and cooperation.
Dato Sri Lee also highlighted the importance of maintaining harmony within Sarawak’s multi-racial and multi-religious society.
He stressed that mutual respect and grassroots cooperation are essential in managing shared facilities such as mosques and community halls.
In light of the ongoing Northeast Monsoon, he reminded residents to remain vigilant against potential flooding, especially in coastal and low-lying areas vulnerable to heavy rainfall and tidal surges.
The opening of the Nurul Ibadah Mosque Hall reflects broader efforts to enhance community infrastructure in Sarawak.
By providing a dedicated space for social, cultural, and educational programmes, the hall is expected to contribute to improved well-being, stronger community ties, and greater resilience in Kampung Muhibbah Kuala Baram.
