SELANGAU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Selangau District has confirmed that floodwaters along Jalan Igu Tamin have fully receded, restoring normal access for residents and motorists.
Monitoring was conducted on Monday morning, 12 January 2026, at 8.51 am, following heavy overnight rainfall. Officials reported that the route leading to Igu Tamin and Dijih Tamin, which had been submerged earlier, is now clear and passable.
Inspections revealed that water levels in low-lying areas have disappeared entirely, while river conditions continue to show a decreasing trend. Authorities stressed that the situation is stable, but vigilance remains necessary given the unpredictable nature of monsoon weather.
Flooding has been a recurring challenge in Selangau, with several rivers and longhouse communities affected in recent weeks.
Temporary evacuation centres, including SK Bukit Arip, were activated earlier this month to shelter families displaced by rising waters. While Jalan Igu Tamin is now safe, other parts of the district remain under close watch.
The Civil Defence Force emphasised that continuous monitoring will be carried out to safeguard communities. Teams remain on duty to provide updates and respond to emergencies should conditions change.
Residents have been urged to remain alert and comply with instructions issued by the authorities. The Civil Defence Force reminded the public that assistance is available through its 24-hour emergency hotline at 084-891285.
Local officials highlighted that preparedness is key, even as conditions improve. With monsoon rains continuing across Sarawak, disaster management teams are ready to act swiftly if water levels rise again.
The Civil Defence Force reaffirmed its guiding principle of “Ready, Fast, With Integrity” in ensuring community safety and resilience.
